Round 1: Pre-Awakening AUs, Personas and Tarots, Lets Plan!

In order to do a little bit of planning before the test drive appears, we've made this post for a very quick round of pre-drive planning. Post the characters that you are interesting in trying out and ask for advice or suggest, or even try to look/entice for castmates! Suggest pre-made AUs where someone from cross canon has been living with you for a while, so when you begin the test proper tomorrow you'll have an idea of what you want to do!

The city of Eddan is like a typical metropolis, your characters can have any job that would make sense in a busy city. They don't have to be restricted to the school, or have a school job.

As the test drive begins, you are free to continue using this post to plan or ask the mods test-drive related questions. We'll do our best to answer in a timely manner! If you're not sure, don't be shy about asking. There's a lot of freedom!

You can also request to roll for a Persona. You can find information about Persona and the Awakening here. Ask for as many test drive characters you have if you'd like!

If you want to assign your character a tarot card for test drive purposes, you're free to pick whatever you think fits best. Your character's actual Arcana will be assigned after being accepted.

HEY THERE! I am super duper thrilled that someone else wants to come play with us, and really flattered that watching them banter was what inspired you. (AW. ;A; best compliment... ever...) So yes, please, by all means join us! EDIT: I'm sure we can find a way to make sure Katou and Kira are not attempting to hunt Rosiel down / vice versa xD;

I think that currently Rin and I are planning on apping these two toward the beginning of Volume 14, before Kira's death is "permanent." OF COURSE, you are free to do whatever makes you happy, but also if you want to orchestrate with us plans for Pre-Awakening or canon points or anything like that, I'd be happy to. :) You can catch me on Plurk @ Dragillionaire, or we can just keep talking here.

I think it would be fun to plan something for Pre-Awakening, to have the three of them know each other before they remember they hate each other. It would make for a more nuanced -and complicated- relationship once they remember who they are.

And that might play into a way to stop them from hunting each other down relentlessly.

I'm definitely looking at a pre-Sandalphon canon point for Rosiel, to avoid too much mental degeneration. But at the same time I won't cop out and a pick a pre-manga point, even if Rosiel would be more stable, because when I app a villain, I own my villainy. ;)

As for the AU... I'm currently pondering making him a young teacher, the kind of sweet, terribly insecure teachers I associate with High School English teachers (Sorry all English teachers reading this) but with a latent mean streak. That is, the sort of person post-seal Rosiel could have been without his thirst for revenge or phenomenal cosmic powers (TM).

I'm not sure whether or not to address his cross-dressing habits...

This sounds like an excellent idea to me! I believe RIn and I are both planning to play our characters as seniors in the Senior Cycle (Rin, please feel free to correct me if I'm wrong?) and as... not quite strangers, but definitely more on the level of acquaintances that run in different circles. Kira is probably going to be much closer to the kind0hearted nerd from Setsuna's Dream World, albeit with some barely repressed anger issues and a sense that Something's Missing. (I'll let Rin detail what her plans are for Katou.)

Perhaps Rosiel could be Kira's English teacher, or the teacher that runs the Literature Club that Kira's a part of?

Regarding the crossdressing... that is a tough one. Maybe go with what you're comfortable with. AS can be kind of a hard series with stuff like this because of tone... and the fact that it's a work that's very much a product of the 90s. I know that there will be aspects of Kira's canon personality--like the insults to gender divergent or non cishet people--that I will definitely be avoiding/not including in his portrayal (but that's sort of a different thing and only meant as an example) because I am not comfortable with it, nor do I want to risk offending anyone else.

Just adding yeah, Katou's gonna be in the Senior cycle. The plans I'm running with for him for the AU life is that he's got a wealthy family that cares more for Appearances than they do their own kid, and he's been rebelling and lashing out. Basically being a delinquent, but for slightly different reasons than canon.

Now I'm imagining Rosiel giving Katou a detention... ;)

(Edit: I just took a peek at your icon collection and I laughed so hard at some of the descriptions that the dog woke up with a start and fell off the couch. A+)

Rosiel being Kira's English teacher sounds good, and he could actually double as lit club advisor as well. I really like your more nuanced approach to Kira, I think it would work well in the setting, including the itch that something's missing.

(As far as tone, I just realized as I'm frantically canon-reviewing that the crazier and more hysterical Rosiel gets, the girlier he looks and dresses and I'm not impressed. This would not fly today.)

THE 90S WERE A HELLUVA TIME! I suppose, in his and Kaori Yuki's defense, Rosiel wanted to more or less be/was obsessed with his sister and what she meant to him, and as such wearing clothing that was closer to hers might have helped him to better embody that in his unraveling mind.... But still. It's a very 90s manga and there's a lot in the books that looking back on just totally would not at all be socially acceptable. It's really interesting from an anthropological perspective.... /puts my own nerd glasses away.
