Clean corridors, a corner that introduced another hallway and another set of guest rooms, and the occasional potted and sculpted plant or picture on the wall with a plaque next to it describing in some detail its significance. No one else roaming, with or without similar intention, and certainly nothing sinister.
So then...where had that sudden and inexplicable feeling of urgency come from? Was this perhaps another symptom of the headaches? Come to think of it, his temples did feel faintly sensitive at the moment, more so than they had when he and Vincent had first begun talking back in the guests' quarters.]

Or, that's how it would appear to any untrained eye, but there was a guarded look to Kit's eyes now, a readiness to his posture, everything suggesting he was prepared to move and perhaps even retaliate at the first sign of danger.]
