Something about that word on the screen screams at him, makes Akira's head throb viciously and his stomach knot in sympathy. No. His heart pounds, and before he can stop himself, he bangs out a message with his thumbs.
Sakuya Kira: I wouldn't say I'm haunted by it. It happened a long time ago, after all. I was seven.
He then tosses the phone away from himself as though it's turned into a venemous snake that might bite and tries to regain some control of himself. Instead he finds himself dwelling on the feelings thoughts from after his mother's death. When the police had shown up at their door to inform them of his mother's death in a car crash, the first and clearest thought he'd experienced that day was, It happened again. People had told him for years that it was simply shock, and so he had gradually buried it--repressed it, even. In truth, he's not thought of the disturbing feelings that accompanied his mother's death in years; after his father remarried, and Akira adjusted, he learned to carry on.
And now he's acting like a fool. Over what... an expression? It's not like she actually suggested he's being haunted... by any spirit, much less that of his own mother. Maybe he does have unresolved baggage to deal with, if he's reacting so childishly. It's just a good thing there's no one else here to see him being such an idiot.
At length, Akira picks up his phone again and enters in a follow up message.
Sakuya Kira:Anyway, you're fine. I'm feeling a little off myself tonight. I'm just suggesting that I doubt the murder victims have any direct ties to me anymore than most other citizens of Eddan.
