Round 1: Test Drive

Welcome to the first test drive!

Please don't worry too much about using your Personas correctly or following the prompts exactly. They're meant to give you starting ideas, but by all means, go wild and add more options!

The objective here is to try out characters and see who you could have the most fun with in the game's setting. However, feel free to follow this link to request a Persona be generated for you as if you were part of the game. (Please try to limit this to only one of your test drive characters if you can as to not overwhelm us! Never mind generating Personas is a pretty fast process! Request for as many characters away as you like!)

If you have questions about the test drive itself, you can ask them here! If you want to play an AU don't forget this entire post can be used for you to get AU scenarios set up and see who your character might have been related too or know before Awakening.

Now then, let's begin...

Prompt 1 - From Dawn to Dusk

The city has been abuzz for the past few weeks. A new string of murders is making front page news and serving as a grim reminder why the nightly curfew is so important. As families, perhaps even someone close to you, mourn, pressure continues to rise at the many police stations and at city hall. The people are afraid and they’re demanding answers.

There's not much time for you to dwell on this.. Like everyone else in the city, you have a lot to do, and a tight schedule to do it in. You don't even notice the application that has appeared on your phone's screen. The headache that follows, however, is strange and disorienting, and it brings with it an odd sensation that something is wrong today. You’re just not sure why.

The day passes by and soon, it's close to midnight. Your body, if you're not in bed by now, is completely exhausted. Despite your best efforts, you'll find yourself closing your eyes. Too bad it's quickly interrupted by a strange noise, and movement like something pulsating softly.

It's your phone, or at least you think it's your phone, but it's never glowed this orange before. There’s mist rising above it almost like fire...something's definitely bizarre about this. Despite your fears, you forces yourself to open it, and click on that strange snake-like icon.

It opens revealing a single statement and blank box;

To begin, please write your name.

Your fingers move on their own. Before you have time to really think about it, and as the pain inside your head becomes so terrible you start breathing rapidly and sweating, you've entered a series of letters and pressed enter. Now you're in a large chatroom with many others...but your 'name' you've never even heard of it...have you? It almost feels like you have...

Prompt 2 - Awakening

The last rays of the sun disappeared over the horizon almost an hour ago, yet here you are, walking through the apple orchards located behind one of the campus wings. The strange app that's been sending you strange clues the past seven days now says you're ready to face the truth. It told you to come here tonight, but never to travel alone. Repeatedly, it warns you to make sure to have someone close by if you're to survive…but besides some friends, what else did you bring with you? Did you pack for this, or did you figure you'd make it up as you go? Are you in a position to be able to bring weapons with you that no one would suspect?

Something is out there, and it's getting closer.

Before you can think, you see it: a large, blackish mass, almost like slime, slithering along the ground resembling a vaguely humanoid shape with glowing yellow eyes. When it roars again, it reveals rows and rows of teeth. This was a mistake your brain warns. The strange name from the chatroom, the days leading up to this...you're fairly certain even if you are prepared that you're going to die.

And yet, something inside you stirs. Even as they move closer, you find yourself charging instead of running, as your heartbeat increases. A voice inside is guiding you, each movement bringing forth a surge of memories of a past that you had lost. You’re angry and confused, but your pain, your fears, your rage for all of this… all of that needs to be taken out on those creatures.

All you need to do now is to tear out your heart.

Prompt 3 - A new, old life

Now that you have your memories back, the strange veil of this world has been somewhat lifted. Things that seemed simple now seem strange. You have so many questions, but not enough answers. Then there's the new weapons you wield and the strange creature inside of you...your Heart Persona.

During the day, you are encouraged to continue to live as you did before, but with old and new memories together, sometimes it is difficult to keep acting like you did. Will it cause issues in your job or school life? Will it change your reactions to whatever life you had here? Do you notice others like you who have awakened?

Maybe it would be a good time to send a chatroom message, just to ask others what they are planning to do. Maybe you should set up a meeting to fight shadows at night. Maybe you’ll organize a plan of attack or set up a club to escape the strange looks others have been giving you. Maybe you just want someone's opinion on the best place to have pizza. Hey, no one said you had to use the AppleNET just for serious things, after all.

Natsumi Hikari - Kamen Rider Decade - Open to Anyone

[personal profile] summerorange 2017-04-28 02:15 am (UTC)(link)
1 - Thru the Lens

Niko Hikari is no stranger to staying up late. Normally, it's due to finishing up work on her latest batch of photos for customers and friends, and tonight starts out no different. It makes her smile to see the joy on the faces of her latest customers within those photographs, and it's not long before she loses track of time again.

But then her phone started to glow orange during cleanup, just when she tried to rest her eyes a bit. And that strange app appeared. And it's like her world is suddenly distorting around her, just a moment, as she suddenly find herself typing in the following words:

Natsumi: Does anyone know why this app exists?

...that's not her name...is it?

2 - Let the chains rattle and break

She had asked a couple of folks from that strange chatroom app to meet up with her at the orchids tonight. No way was she inviting any of her normal friends to this - not when this could be too dangerous for them. Or too weird. She shows up with a pocket knife, a sheathed chef's knife in her travel bag, and a tiny can of pepper spray hooked onto her keychain.

Niko keeps checking her watch, hoping that whoever those folks are would show up very soon. She has a feeling that whatever kind of truth she's supposed to discover tonight, she shouldn't do so by herself.

John was running late and he knew it. But it was hard to sneak out of a house with his siblings and then getting around town without getting caught was another matter entirely. Still, he'd managed it and with a backpack full of supplies to boot. He hadn't been sure what to bring exactly, but he had a change of clothes, some snacks, and a flash light in there plus a handy wooden baseball bat he was carrying over his shoulder. That should...help, right? He just hoped it didn't slip out of his sweaty palms.

He probably should have been paying more attention as in his haste to get to the appointed meeting place in time, he practically tripped into Niko. He caught himself in time, but only just and clamped his hand over his mouth to keep from letting out a loud yelp. When he had composed himself he straightened up, "S-sorry. I'm not too late am I? Uh...that is you're the person that posted about meeting by the fountain...?"

She was almost ready to head out on her own, as uncertain as she is about the whole thing. That person from the chat was most certainly late, and it both worried and irritated her. She's worried because something terrible may have happened to them. Irritated because she almost feels like she's being stood up - and that's the worst feeling in the world.

But just when she starting to actually walk away from the fountain that some guy practically plowed into her. It makes her squeek in surprise as she stumbles back in shock. Her hand almost instinctively went to the pocket knife...until the guy began to speak. She eyes him warily as she realized that no, this isn't some officer coming across her - or worse...

"...You're lucky that you made it when you did. I was just about to leave," she settles for a soft scolding in response. "What took you so long?"

"Sneaking out isn't exactly easy you know," he replied, like she probably hadn't had to deal with her own problems. "I didn't think my siblings would take so long to clear out so I could. I should have sent a message I know," he explained, "Sorry." He looked around, they were the only two out here it seemed. He frowned, "I thought there were going to be more of us...think the others backed out?"

He paused and then turned his attention back to the girl, "I'm John...that is Jaune on the app."

"Siblings...?" She then shakes her head. Why is she so grumpy in this moment? Really, he's got a valid explanation... "It--It's alright. You just started me; that's all. I'm glad that you made it. And I'm Niko - Natsumi on the app."

She then looks around for any other signs of life as well. "Though...you do have a point. Did you run into anyone else on your way over here?"

He doesn't take it too personally. He'd been feeling pretty jumpy this whole time as well. "It's hard not to be jumpy, huh?" He was nervous, the app had been neat but also weird and now it had all built up to this. They weren't supposed to be out like this so late, not with all the murders taking place. But at the same time there was something about it all that John just couldn't ignore.

He shook his head at her question, "Just avoiding a few officers on patrol--otherwise it was pretty clear."
summerorange: (so not convinced)

[personal profile] summerorange 2017-04-29 04:11 am (UTC)(link)
Niko nods in agreement. Really, she should be home, finishing her development of today's photos. Doubtlessly, her parents are going to fuss and worry over her - especially her mother. Most especially her mother, what with the lack of moonlight and all...

And yet...why does she feel that she has to be out here tonight? Like the fate of the world requires her to be here with him?

She sighs at his response. "So you haven't seen anyone else, either?" This is nuts. There should be more people here to help them out. And yet...part of her is pushing for them to start heading out. Hurry, hurry...before it's too late--!

Niko shakes her head, as if to clear it of some kind of echo. She then straightens up and adjusts her travel bag. "Well, I'm afraid that if they don't show up in the next few moments, they may have to catch up on our trail..." She then critically eyes the man over. Sure, that bat looks pretty darn solid...but that pushy part of her is very doubtful of its effectiveness. "What else did you bring besides the bat?"

"I tried to message a few people...but no luck. Unless they're planning to meet us at the orchard directly which I guess is possible," he muttered. He had hoped his friends would back him up on this. Unlike Niko, he'd actually asked some of his friends (who he knew had the app anyway) to join him. Apparently no such luck. He just hoped he didn't regret it himself or otherwise all he would hear the next day was 'I told you so.'

Assuming he made it back, a voice nagged in the back of his mind, the pessimistic side of him. He really needed to learn to tune that part out. He'd followed the instructions he had ONE other person here with him at least.

"Uh...well," he looks over his shoulder at his backpack, as if to reassure himself it is still there, "A flash light, some snacks, a change of clothes...that's about it."
