Round 1: Test Drive

Welcome to the first test drive!

Please don't worry too much about using your Personas correctly or following the prompts exactly. They're meant to give you starting ideas, but by all means, go wild and add more options!

The objective here is to try out characters and see who you could have the most fun with in the game's setting. However, feel free to follow this link to request a Persona be generated for you as if you were part of the game. (Please try to limit this to only one of your test drive characters if you can as to not overwhelm us! Never mind generating Personas is a pretty fast process! Request for as many characters away as you like!)

If you have questions about the test drive itself, you can ask them here! If you want to play an AU don't forget this entire post can be used for you to get AU scenarios set up and see who your character might have been related too or know before Awakening.

Now then, let's begin...

Prompt 1 - From Dawn to Dusk

The city has been abuzz for the past few weeks. A new string of murders is making front page news and serving as a grim reminder why the nightly curfew is so important. As families, perhaps even someone close to you, mourn, pressure continues to rise at the many police stations and at city hall. The people are afraid and they’re demanding answers.

There's not much time for you to dwell on this.. Like everyone else in the city, you have a lot to do, and a tight schedule to do it in. You don't even notice the application that has appeared on your phone's screen. The headache that follows, however, is strange and disorienting, and it brings with it an odd sensation that something is wrong today. You’re just not sure why.

The day passes by and soon, it's close to midnight. Your body, if you're not in bed by now, is completely exhausted. Despite your best efforts, you'll find yourself closing your eyes. Too bad it's quickly interrupted by a strange noise, and movement like something pulsating softly.

It's your phone, or at least you think it's your phone, but it's never glowed this orange before. There’s mist rising above it almost like fire...something's definitely bizarre about this. Despite your fears, you forces yourself to open it, and click on that strange snake-like icon.

It opens revealing a single statement and blank box;

To begin, please write your name.

Your fingers move on their own. Before you have time to really think about it, and as the pain inside your head becomes so terrible you start breathing rapidly and sweating, you've entered a series of letters and pressed enter. Now you're in a large chatroom with many others...but your 'name' you've never even heard of it...have you? It almost feels like you have...

Prompt 2 - Awakening

The last rays of the sun disappeared over the horizon almost an hour ago, yet here you are, walking through the apple orchards located behind one of the campus wings. The strange app that's been sending you strange clues the past seven days now says you're ready to face the truth. It told you to come here tonight, but never to travel alone. Repeatedly, it warns you to make sure to have someone close by if you're to survive…but besides some friends, what else did you bring with you? Did you pack for this, or did you figure you'd make it up as you go? Are you in a position to be able to bring weapons with you that no one would suspect?

Something is out there, and it's getting closer.

Before you can think, you see it: a large, blackish mass, almost like slime, slithering along the ground resembling a vaguely humanoid shape with glowing yellow eyes. When it roars again, it reveals rows and rows of teeth. This was a mistake your brain warns. The strange name from the chatroom, the days leading up to this...you're fairly certain even if you are prepared that you're going to die.

And yet, something inside you stirs. Even as they move closer, you find yourself charging instead of running, as your heartbeat increases. A voice inside is guiding you, each movement bringing forth a surge of memories of a past that you had lost. You’re angry and confused, but your pain, your fears, your rage for all of this… all of that needs to be taken out on those creatures.

All you need to do now is to tear out your heart.

Prompt 3 - A new, old life

Now that you have your memories back, the strange veil of this world has been somewhat lifted. Things that seemed simple now seem strange. You have so many questions, but not enough answers. Then there's the new weapons you wield and the strange creature inside of you...your Heart Persona.

During the day, you are encouraged to continue to live as you did before, but with old and new memories together, sometimes it is difficult to keep acting like you did. Will it cause issues in your job or school life? Will it change your reactions to whatever life you had here? Do you notice others like you who have awakened?

Maybe it would be a good time to send a chatroom message, just to ask others what they are planning to do. Maybe you should set up a meeting to fight shadows at night. Maybe you’ll organize a plan of attack or set up a club to escape the strange looks others have been giving you. Maybe you just want someone's opinion on the best place to have pizza. Hey, no one said you had to use the AppleNET just for serious things, after all.

Kaworu Nagisa | Evangelion

Prompt 2:

It's late for someone to be sitting in the music room playing the piano, but not so terribly strange. He's a teacher, he has a key to the room, and besides, he's waiting for someone. A teacher he's good friends with, or perhaps a student--he wouldn't involve them in something that sounded dangerous, but if he'd somehow got wind of them being in the same position, then he'd rather be there to support them as much as vice versa. They haven't arrived yet, but they will soon. In the meantime, he'll be playing his music. Something is going to happen tonight, and it's the easiest way he can think of to stay relaxed about it.

[ooc: AU version appears 29 because that's his actual physical age at the point I'm taking him from (3.33) but awakened version will look 15. Also, go with whatever formatting and I'll match. Open to other prompt suggestions as well.]

Haven't made human icons for him yet, sorry

[personal profile] mutesician 2017-04-22 07:01 am (UTC)(link)
Louis is usually the last to leave, since he's pretty much taken responsibility for the music room. Still, he knows that Nagisa will be here tonight, so he's not surprised to hear or see him playing. Not to mention the thing that's apparently going to happen tonight. Louis has his phone with him as he enters the room, checking the countdown again and again. He holds out the notebook he usually carries with him.

So, did that app give you any more hints about what's going to happen tonight?

No worries

[personal profile] dssploded 2017-04-22 07:10 am (UTC)(link)
He glances over at Louis as he comes into the room, finishing out the last few notes of a phrase and then pulling his hands from the piano as the other comes closer. When he sees the question, he shakes his head.

"No. But we should be prepared for something dangerous."
mutesician: (Default)

His human form is black, BTW

[personal profile] mutesician 2017-04-22 07:28 am (UTC)(link)
Louis nods. Part of him also worries about the students, since some of them have definitely received similar messages. Still, most of them should be gone now, and he figures they probably don't want their music teachers fussing over them like this.

And then he blinks. Is it getting darker-? He looks up. The lights seem fine. And then he looks towards the corner, and his eyes widen. That shadow was definitely not there before.

[personal profile] dssploded 2017-04-22 08:02 am (UTC)(link)
He follows the gaze and sees the shadow, getting closer and seemingly more solid all the while. Regardless of what he just said, and no matter what he might have mentally prepared for, Kaworu is suddenly certain he underestimated the danger. And it's terrifying, the most terrifying thing he's ever experienced.

Except it's not, proclaims a voice in his head, and Kaworu remembers something familiar yet foreign, the feeling of seeing someone about to make a mistake that could end the world, could destroy himself, and being powerless to stop it. Who- When- What-

What is happening? For now, that's all he can think, and for now, he doesn't react to the shadow creeping closer, one way or the other.

As it gets closer, Louis feels himself freezing up as well. It feels...it feels like...a fox? Yes, a fox, a stalking predator...but why is his mind making that comparison at first? He extends an...arm? Part of him looks confused at that, as if it should be something else. The memory of feathers...

But at the same time, these memories are...urging him to charge? He finds himself taking a step forwards, and wondering at how his body suddenly feels clumsy.

[personal profile] dssploded 2017-04-23 05:41 am (UTC)(link)
The changes that Kaworu finds himself expecting of his body are much more slight, but equally confusing. He somehow feels younger and older all at once, and it's disorienting, with memories rushing back in ways that don't seem to even match themselves. It's enough to make him feel almost sick, and he stumbles a step forward, trying to regain his bearings.

But as memories pour in, they get to things he doesn't want to remember, and certainly doesn't want to accept, not in the way it's being unexpectedly thrust upon him. He looks up at the creature and his eyes narrow, glaring at it with a sudden sharpness. The confusion of the memories is something he can sort later. For now, what he knows is that this creature is his enemy, and in that, he can find focus.

[personal profile] mutesician 2017-04-23 08:39 am (UTC)(link)
Louis notices the change in Kaworu's step as well, although for him the determination to fight comes from the fact that the creature he faces is a threat to those he cares about. If it's allowed to escape...it will hurt them, he can tell.

His heartbeat is getting louder. It's also getting faster, but it doesn't feel dangerous. More...normal. And then...there's a voice, whispering in his ear. He straightens up, trying to see it, but there's nothing to see, so he glances over at Kaworu instead, inclining his head as the darkness approaches.

Can you hear it too? he's trying to convey.

It is a little on the late side, but this student, at least, is familiar with teachers being there after hours. Usually they're tutoring someone or assisting a club. Akira was on his way home after the Literary Club's weekly meeting when the sound of music echoing down the empty corridors caught his attention.

He leans in the open doorway, simply absorbing the music in silence until the teacher finishes his song. Only then does he finally speak up.

"You know, with skill like that you could probably have had a much more lucrative career than a high school teacher."
dssploded: (pic#6809399)

[personal profile] dssploded 2017-04-23 05:55 am (UTC)(link)
Kaworu is aware of his presence not long after he gets there, and he does appreciate the silence. At the comment, he looks over at the student with a quiet smile.

"That may be true. Money is only one factor in a career, though."
neverbeentogeorgia: (smooth operator)

[personal profile] neverbeentogeorgia 2017-04-23 06:47 am (UTC)(link)
"That's true. On the other hand, you're also not going to get that much recognition or thanks, either. At least, not if your students are anything like the majority of my classmates."

Oh, sure, they're nice enough when things are going well. But when they start getting marked down for wrong answers or called out on sleeping in class, that's when the sass and the whining comes out.

[personal profile] dssploded 2017-04-23 07:26 am (UTC)(link)
Different students have different needs, and different attitudes. Kaworu doesn't care much about whether he gets thanks, or whether every student likes him, so long as he can make a difference for someone. It's interesting commentary coming from a student, though, and he raises an eyebrow slightly.

"What sort of student would you consider yourself, then?"
neverbeentogeorgia: (et tu?)

[personal profile] neverbeentogeorgia 2017-04-23 08:18 am (UTC)(link)
"What sort of student I consider myself? That's an interesting question."

Akira peels away from the door frame and moves in, slow and lazy like a well fed jungle cat. "I challenge myself as much as possible. Make good grades. But I suppose you could say I'm a little bored."
